Dr Manish Gupta is a senior consultant ophthalmologist for NHS Greater Glasgow, a role he has held since 2011. He sees private patients at Nuffield Health Glasgow Hospital, Ross Hall Clinic Braehead, Ross Hall Hospital and Black & Lizars Giffnock.
He has expertise in all medical retina problems, such as macular degeneration, diabetic macular oedema, diabetic retinopathy, and vein occlusion. He is also experienced in general ophthalmology, intravitreal injections, Argon laser therapy, and YAG laser capsulotomy.
During his time with the NHS, Dr Gupta has overseen the medical retina service at Queen Elizabeth University Hospital and Stobhill Hospital. He is actively involved in the training of other health professionals such as optometrists, nurses, and general practitioners, as well as running courses for optometrists on a regular basis. In addition, he works as a consultant optician trainer at the West of Scotland Teach and Treat (WOSCOTT) clinic.
He is also an honorary senior clinical lecturer at the University of Glasgow and an examiner for the Royal College of Surgeons and Physicians of Glasgow and Royal College of Ophthalmologists London. Furthermore, he has published his work in international journals and co-authored a number of book chapters.
